It had to happen sooner or later. I was a very accident prone child and had my parents at various hospitals every year or so. So... now it's my turn. ;)
Abby fell off her bike last Monday and somehow the bike fell on her arm. She's still using training wheels, so the whole thing is a mystery, but it happened nonetheless. Ryan took her to emergency while I stayed home and got the boys ready for bed and waited by the phone. The ER docs couldn't tell if it was broken or not. There is no visible break on the x-ray, but there is fluid around the bone (
the humerus) that indicated to the PA that we saw on Wednesday that there is more than likely a crack in the bone.
Abby got to pick out the color of her cast. Bright pink, of course. She only has to be in the cast for 2 weeks and will get it off next Tuesday. She is supposed to start soccer the next day, but she'll have to sit out for 2 weeks. Not too bad. The cast hasn't slowed her down one bit. She keeps asking to ride her bike. Crazy kid. ;)
Here she is with her cast and the splint they gave her at the hospital. The cast is almost full of signatures now and a cool drawing of Spongebob and Patrick that her dad did. I'll have to get some new pics of it before it comes off.
